About Richter Center
A clear, free view of every earthquake on Earth: what is shaking now, near you and through a century of history.
Richter Center maps every earthquake of magnitude 2.5 or more minutes after seismographs record it, and keeps the history: every magnitude 4.5+ earthquake worldwide since 1900 and every 2.5+ since 2000, more than 830,000 in all.
What you can do here

Where the data comes from
Earthquakes come from the U.S. Geological Survey's earthquake catalog (ComCat), which combines networks around the world; places come from GeoNames. See data and methods for the details.
Not a warning service
Richter Center is for information and curiosity. It is not an early-warning or emergency service: in an emergency, follow your local authorities and official alerts.
